It Really Can Happen

We are always genuinely thrilled to read about the experiences of our community. Tracy and her team provide an incredible variety of options for you to focus on your health, but it’s your own dedication, drive and consistency which delivers the results.

Recently, a particularly incredible Mover shared her journey with us and we immediately sought her permission to share it with the community. We wanted to do this because we all need hope, we all need to see women who are achieving great things. Of course, everyone is different but a story like this is such pure inspiration – we just had to bring it to you.

“…..I wanted to share some good news with the community today as you all had a hand in it. In February 2023 I was diagnosed with osteopenia. As someone who’d been active for most of her life and at the time I was only 51, I was really shocked with this diagnosis. I think a lot of it was due to menopausal symptoms that I struggled greatly with. Shortly after that I got some help from a great provider and started HRT. It allowed me to get some energy back as well as reduce the stiffness and joint pain I was having and I was able to get back to working out properly. I joined this community during the March Melt Away challenge and have been very steady in increasing, and prioritizing the resistance training. Last week I had another DEXA scan and I just got my results. My osteopenia is reversed! My results are now normal and I am thrilled. A big thanks to this community, especially Tracy and Kim, for putting together this fabulous group to learn from and get healthy with.”

The Science Behind the Healing

This incredible story gives us a great inroad, to sharing the science behind how this can be achieved. That matters to Tracy greatly – no fads, no quick fixes, but instead, evidence based methods to meet your goals. There are now many examples which document the positive impact of strength training when it comes to supporting bone health. This 2022 study on PubMed for example PMID35271050

Here is a summary of the science:

  1. Promotes bone-building activity by stimulating osteoblasts, the cells responsible for laying down new bone.
  2. Increases mechanical load on bones, which signals the body to strengthen them (just like muscles).
  3. Improves balance and coordination, reducing fall risk and protecting bone health long-term.
  4. Slows natural age-related bone loss, which accelerates during perimenopause and beyond.
  5. Strengthens the muscles that support joints, reducing stress on bones and lowering injury risk.
  6. Targets key fracture-prone areas like hips, spine, and wrists, especially with weight-bearing and resistance moves.

Helps preserve posture and spinal alignment, protecting against curvature and compression as estrogen declines.  If you’re looking for options to support any resistance training goals you may have, check out How to Build Muscle as you Age 3.0!
