Motivation Can Wane but We’ve Got You!

Motivation is great – when it shows up. But for most women over 40, juggling work, family, fluctuating hormones, and maybe a body that doesn’t respond like it used to… motivation is inconsistent at best. And waiting for it is one of the biggest reasons people stay stuck.

Here is what we find works better than motivation:

1. Structure you don’t have to think about:

✅ Prep meals on Sunday so you’re not winging it midweek.

✅ Set a daily protein target and repeat meals to keep it simple.

✅ Follow a workout plan designed by an expert trainer

2. Boundaries around your time and energy:

✅ Protect your workout time – it should be a non-negotiable.

✅ Say no to extras that drain you if you’re already overloaded.

✅ Set a screen curfew so you can get to sleep (and recover better).

3. Systems that trigger action:

✅ Leave your workout clothes out the night before.

✅ Schedule your walk or workout in your calendar like a meeting.

✅ Pair habits e.g. do squats while the kettle boils, stretch during TV.

4. Self-respect > self-discipline:

✅ Act in a way that honours your future self, not just your current mood.

✅ Remember: You don’t need to feel like doing it to do it.

✅ If you miss a workout or overeat, get curious, not critical, and move on.

5. A goal that’s bigger than a dress size:

✅ Want to feel stronger climbing stairs? Play with your grandkids without getting tired? Sleep through the night?

✅ Anchor your actions to those goals. A number on the scale won’t carry you when motivation disappears – but purpose will.

Bottom line – you don’t need to be more motivated, you need a routine that works on autopilot. Focus on systems, not willpower. Because results come from what you do most consistently, not what you do when you’re inspired.
